SynBioEnergy has made a low cost bioreactor with a suite of environmental applications. The bioreactor uses microbes to degrade either cellulose from agricultural waste or PET from plastic waste while also converting carbon dioxide into a useful biogas. The system is also configurable to desalinate water from the central compartment of the reactor.
